Yamaha-KDDI collaboration results in suave musical phones

Concept_KDDI_1.jpg
KDDI’s designing studio in Harajuko unveiled some nice mobile phone concepts in an exhibition recently. The collaboration between Yamaha and KDDI culminated in an array of nifty devices that were a fusion of musical instruments and mobile phones. The one to start with is “Band in my pocket”, a mobile phone with five modules, from a bass module to a trumpet module. “Trio in your Hand” that has been designed for a easier game play, features a third interface that lets you scratch like a DJ with a special pad. “Box to Play” is a stylish cube shaped phone featuring a camera in the middle of the phone, speakers as well as a touch pad for scratching.

Hive audio system for outdoor entertainment

lone_speaker_1.jpg
The Hive audio system by designer Christopher Stuart is one design concept that’s suave and effective. The simple rugged speaker for outdoor entertainment integrates two components, a sound tube that protects the speaker from elements and a bell with a translucent base that provides stability. The best part is the wireless connectivity that it offers from a main station unit, which is particularly helpful for linking to other units for multiple sound outputs. Nothing too groundbreaking, just a simple and cute audio speaker you’d like to thump up in your backyard.

iBasket: Futuristic wash ware for the primordial

ibasket_1.jpg
It’s funny, how innovators go out of their way to concoct groundbreaking inventions, which eventually turn out to be passé. One such entity is Geopeng Liang, whose finalist entry was posted in Electrolux’s Design Lab 2008. He’s apparently come up with this cloths hamper, that waits till it contains certain weight of clothing, after which, it does a basic cold wash. In the meantime, it flushes air through the cloths, which ensures that there are no unpleasant odors emanating, as the pile builds up. The iBasket also instant messages you about its current status. It’s not just the futile product that’s bugging me in this case, but it’s also the cheap wannabe ‘i’ gimmick that’s getting prefixed before every ‘innovative’ and ‘modern’ product that makes it’s way to the market. (Apple must be tired of filing lawsuits repeatedly.)

Nerds have bigger hard drives, yes they do or so this tee says

nerds_t-shirt.jpg
This t-shirt made me LOL hard. It is probably the funniest tee that I've seen in a long time. 'Nerds have bigger hard drives'. Could the innuendo be more obvious? Of course, the innocent few might think the reference is to computer storage, but we know better don't we? Well if this t-shirt doesn't get the nerds some action, nothing ever will! Girls, wear this one for your nerdy boyfriends, they will show you some of the usefulness of the big hard drive then. I'm not sure about the price on this one or where you can get one A little research will help you find it I;m sure. Oh and the hearts on the tee are so cute!

New Wiimote straps add colour to your gaming experience

wiimote_straps.jpg
Remember that announcement from Nintendo promising us the Wii is a wide range of colours? Remember the excitement and wheels turning in your head? Unfortunately, they didn't follow through on that promise and we are stuck with the white version. No choice whatsoever. But it is a whole different story with the Wiimote straps. Nintendo has made them available in a good range of colours, possibly to make up for the lack of colour for the console! These blue, green, pink and white straps are only available in Japan at the moment. You can buy these colourful Wiimote straps for $2.75 apiece or in a variety pack of four for about $9.

Mariah Carey's Luscious Pink perfume to hit stores in August

mariah_carey_luscious_pink.jpg Elizabeth Arden has some of the best fragrances to offer which is why i have high hopes from Luscious Pink. This ultra feminine perfume migh just turn out to be better than singer Mariah Carey's debut effort in the world of fragrances last september. Luscious Pink goes a little deeper into Mariah's world and gets a little more intimate than the previous fragrance. The company says the scent is radiant and ethereal. I'm glad to hear that the fragrance has citrus notes with a hint of Bellini Accord that pulls you to a day in Capri which happens to be Mariah Carey's favourite destination. The floral accents remind you of pink peony, tiare petals and lily of the valley, while woods and musk characterise the base. Sounds wonderful doesn't it? Now for the beauty of the bottle. It is similar to the previous one and is made pretty with shades of rose, blue, yellow and white for a rainbow effect. I love the cap that features a butterfly which is Carey's trademark symbol. “The inspiration for this fragrance is Mariah’s voice and impressive range,” explained the perfumers, Carlos Benaim and Loc Dong, of International Flavors & Fragrances. “We wanted to create a floral melody that is as enveloping as Mariah’s voice.” Luscious Pink by Mariah Carey is set to hit the stores in August and it is available in 30ml, 50ml and 100ml edp spray, plus a 200ml body lotion at $39.50, US$52.50, US$62.50, and US$28, respectively.

Casio hits the japanese market on 29th August with its newest camera targetted at the female buyers

casio-1.jpg
I must admit that when it comes to digital cameras, I tend to go with either Sony or Cannon. Other brands don't seem to hold my interest that much. But Casio is expected to launch its new compact digital camera christened Exilim Zoom EX-Z85 on 29th august in Japan. This one has me slightly interested, I guess. By looking at the colour range on this model, it is pretty obvious that they expect it to be a hit with the fairer sex aka women. I suppose, the features are pretty standard and include a 9.1M CCD sensor with a 3x optical zoom lens, face detection function for up to 10 people and smile shutter mode. Also, it has a 2.6-inch LCD screen, up to ISO 1600 and video recording at 30 fps. Now that the technical mumbo jumbo has been dealt with, let's face it that if you are buying this camera then it is for it looks more than anything else.

Holedar Earphones by Yoonsang Kim

holeder_earphones_1.jpg
The Holedar Earphones by Yoonsang Kim is definitely gonna get a lot of praise for not just the innovation in terms of minimalism and technology but also for the drop dead killer looks. The design is striking and would top the class of earphones. Not only does it look great as it fits snugly in your ear but also easily loops together around your neck when not in use. The Earphones by Philips have done justice to not just the design but also the brand; The shape of the Earphone is a 'P' for Philips.

USB Secret Diaries keeps all your secrets safe with self destruction and emotion sensors!

secret_diary_1.jpg
Though a few people, especially men, find the practise of keeping a secret diary quite silly, I on the contrary believe its a great way to connect to yourself. While moving ahead with time, some rather intelligent person did think of that little precious part of our lives and updated it to a USB Secret Diary that doesn't really need you to hold a pen and pencil anymore. The Secret Diary looks very similar to the Corsair Flash Padlock flash drive in that both have a numeric pad for entering your 4-digit PIN. Its the ultimate when it comes to storing your deepest secrets as the Secret Diary encrypts entries stored on it via 256-bit AES crypto and is able to self-destruct the data when someone attempts a force brute attack. So your enemies posing as hackers are surely going to eat a lot of dust but not without getting you to miss your diary.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s fur fantasy infuriates PETA.

gwyneth_paltrow_peta.jpg
Fur-lovers have to face the brunt of PETA and Gwyneth Paltrow is the latest celebrity being bashed for her fur-loving antics. The vegetarian actress has infuriated PETA over her autumn/winter 2008-9 campaign for Tod's in which she models fur-lined boots and bags made from ostrich and snakeskin. The animal rights organization went to the extent of sending the Iron man actress videos of how people suffer for fur but are still awaiting a response. These animals are electrocuted, their necks snapped and are miserably skinned alive. She has definitely set a bad example and now has to face the brunt of it. Not only has she angered the organization, she has some of her friends hopping mad too. One more tale added to the book of fur fury!

Hello Kitty Telephone is calling you!

hk-telephone.jpg For once Hello Kitty has come out with a phone that doesn’t nauseate you with it’s over dose of supposed cuteness. I am blissful to see the step up in the form of Hello Kitty telephone. This phone is made in warm pink color, instead of a blaring hot pink and doesn’t hurt the eye. The features are also really not that bad as it has call display screen, option buttons, and an image of Hello Kitty on the handle too but that’s the only snag. Other features include DTMF/ FSK two-way incoming call display; 35 incoming name and number memories; 5 outgoing name and number memories; 8 different ring tones; volume adjustments; alarm clock option and date display. This phone does sound intelligent to b a Hello Kitty product! Retails for $59.99 only.
