Japanese master the art of glamorising mobile phones!

glamorising_mobile_phones.jpg
Call it over-the-top, kitsch, or a new art form, love it or hate it but you cannot ignore the dolled up mobile phones, definitely not if you are in Tokyo. You shouldn’t be surprised at all to feel like an outcast if you are using your mobile phone just the way you got it in that sealed box. That’s a definite no-no in Tokyo where dressing up your phone could well be as imperative as dressing yourself. Deco-den has become a rage in Japan and has been decorating mobile phones since 1998. In 2003 and 2005, they became slightly popular, and this year there has been a wave of demand for decorated mobiles. There are embellished with the use of decorative wrappers that are more like adhesive sheets with designs printed on one side that stick right onto the mobile. But nothing beats my favourite rhinestones. They look absolutely stunning and I would love to go for one any day anytime.

Lessev Mobile Station veils those wires and keeps your space clean!

lessev-mobile-station-1.jpg
The Lessev Mobile Station may be something on the lines of a godsend gift for people who are drowning in gadgets and their respective cords. But to me it’s nothing more than a plastic tub with a few punched holes designed by Takafumi Nemoto. What this glorified and gadgetfied tub does goes as follows. All of the cords stay inside the container connected to a single power source, and all of your gadgets sit on top of the silicone lid which keeps the connection ends accessible without looking sloppy.

Motion Responsive Sportswear is the next big thing in the world or sports of Fitness

motion_responsive_t_shirt.jpgOver the years there has been so many revolutionary designs and innovations in the world of sports and fitness. Kerri Wallace is a designer from the United Kingdom who is set to take it a notch higher. She wants to use motion responsive textiles to do this. Her research project 'Motion Responsive Sportswear' is using the correlation between heart rate and body temperature as a trigger for the visual representation of the activity level by changing the color pattern of sports apparel. We might not think that textiles play a big role in the world of sports and fitness, but in reality they do. This has been proven time and again. Kerri's Motion Responsive Sportswear takes the visualization of heart rate / body temperature by changing the colors of sports apparel which are printed with temperature specific thermo-chromic and thermo-chromic liquid crystal inks.

Give your cat a chance to be a hero with Suck Uk's Cat Playhouse

catplay-plane.jpg
I think all the attention given to pet toys and accessories these days is ridiculous. Some people care more about their pets than they would about their children and there's something very disturbing about that. Not saying that I'm an anti-animal or something or I wouldn't be bringing you this Cat Playhouse, would I? It appears that people think cats are patriotic creatures and would like to be heroes for the country one day. Suck UK, has come out with a threesome of un-foldable Cardboard Classics Cat Playhouses to give your cat a taste of being a hero because the armed forces of the country surely won't. The first model is for a car that wants to be a pilot. Maybe the cat wants to fly in the air, as it will be easier to prey on those clueless birds then? The second one is a tank for cats that aspire to join the army. The last one is a fire truck. I'm sure it is your cats dream to extinguish fires all over the city.

Kelly Bremer's cooking system will make you a happy camper!

elevate-cooking-system_1.jpg
If your problem about going camping is the awful food that you have to put up with, then you need not fret anymore. People always have grand ideas about making super awesome food out in the wilderness but let's face it; it just isn't possible. It wasn't possible for cavemen and it isn't possible for us to cook up delicacies with just some wood and fire. That's where Kelly Bremer's eco-friendly innovation, the alfresco cooking system consisting of a stove, grill, and smoker comes in. This is your answer to not turning up your nose at camping food. It is a mighty useful and convenient device. It has a heat-activated color shifting material that warns of the flame's invisible nature. It is also very aware about not harming the environment and uses eco-friendly denatured alcohol for cooking. This means you can leave the fossil fuels alone and still have some yummy veggies and meat on the go.

Prince William's girlfriend Kate Middleton sports 1980s hot roller-skating gear for charity

kate_middleton-skating.jpg We all know Kate Middleton as Prince William's girlfriend and how envious of her we are. I'm sure a few are trying to run black magic spells on her. But don't be so drastic; this girl is doing some good for the society, even if it means arriving in shiny roller-skating hot pants and sequins. I'm sure that was part of the dazzle though. The 26-year-old beauty organized a 'tongue in cheek' event in Vauxhall, London for a charity. This turned out to be a huge success and a total of £100,000 was raised for a new surgical ward at Oxford Children's Hospital, set up in memory of Thomas Waley-Cohen, who died from bone cancer in 2004 when he was just 20. Mr. Waley-Cohen attended Malborough College with Kate and was also friends with William and Harry. Thomas' brother Sam, an amateur jockey was also involved in organizing the event in the Renaissance Rooms, along with Holly who is Sir Richard Branson's daughter. This is what he had to say about the fundraiser, "The day-glo roller disco came about after a group of us got together and decided that we wanted to help raise money for these two extremely worthwhile charities. We wanted to do something fresh and new; something that would be fun and a bit tongue in cheek, reflecting the lighter side of life; very much like Thomas was himself. The care that Thomas received in Oxford made such a difference to his life and to my family's which is why we are supporting Tom's Ward - to make sure that thousands of other children can receive first-class medical treatment for their illnesses and conditions."

Hello Kitty stud now on your tongue

hello-kitty-tongue-ring.jpg
When you think of tongue piercing, you think of tough punk kids sporting them. That's the stereotype in my mind at least. However, here's a little piece of jewelry to break that stereotype. Did you ever think that you would lay eyes on a Hello Kitty tongue stud? This pretty feline hasn't left any territory unconquered! I think tongue piercing are kind of lame, but if you intent on getting one then make sure this kitty sits on your tongue.

18k Gold Hello Kitty cell phone strap is the kind of bling you can't refuse

hello-kitty-18k-gold-phone-strap.jpg Usually, I turn a disapproving eye on anything that glitters gold, but team it up with Hello Kitty, and there is no way I can ignore it. This 18k gold Hello Kitty strap has definitely caught my attention. Not just for its adorable appearance, but also for its exuberant price. This tiny kitty cell phone accessory costs a bomb at $462. All the Hello Kitty haters will chalk this down as another Hello Kitty piece of over priced rubbish. But the true fans who also have the money will definitely invest in the accessory and those without the money will look on wistfully. Especially check out the cute pink bow on this 18k gold Hello Kitty cell phone strap, it is ultra cute. I'm in love with this HK bling, are you too?

Steampunk style Bluetooth is funky

steampunk_bluetooth.jpg
This Victorian style mechanical marvel is nothing but a Bluetooth made out of sculpey and spare watch parts. If you're worried if it's going to prick your ear lobe, then relax because it's got a comfy leather lining. Nicrosin's made it cool, but I can't promise you about the safety of this thing. What if the components fall off and go right into your eardrum. (Wicked!) But aye, it is a beautiful piece of art and would certainly please the Steampunk fans.

Epidermits toy is scary and a perfect partner for punks!

epidermits_toy_1.jpg
Ugly, confusing and daunting are just a few adjectives that describe the Epidermits toy. I dunno which kid would like to befriend this ugly creature but given that it has already been made we might as well check it out. As part of their Cautionary Visions project, KD designers (Karten Design firm) wanted to focus on how gadget design can get off track when the focus on real human interactions is lost. So they came up with a few gadgets that would be obscene, but also feasible. I dunno how many parents would want this robotic thing with human-like tissue organism covering its body and tattoos and piercing to accompany their child. What a madcap creation, the epidermits toy is more like an epidemic! A toy for punks!

Cuisinart popcorn popper for popcorn people!

cuisinart_popcorn_popper.jpg
Just in case you are a popcorn loving geek then you have to get yourself this nice-looking Cuisinart popcorn popper. It’s good enough to make me bend my I -love-microwave-popcorn rule and opt for a popcorn maker instead. It aint just any popcorn maker, the built-in ventilation system and stirring mechanism ensures even heat distribution for the kernels. In fact, it can make about 10 cups of popcorn in just 5 minutes. It also allows me to watch the popping popcorns which I feel is the best part of the popcorn making process through a large acrylic see-through dome. Conveniently the dome doubles as a handy serving bowl when inverted. If you are deprived of a microwave but can manage to shell out $69.95 then make place for Cuisinart popcorn maker in your kitchen.

Self-Sustainable Chair is a dress that inflates into a chair!

bubble-butt-chair.jpg
Have you ever felt the need to sit as soon as start walking? If your answer is no like mine then make sure that you are not wearing the Self-Sustainable Chair. Though called a chair it is in point of fact a dress or is it the other way round? Either way Self-Sustainable Chair is a wearable piece of furniture which is a dress where the butt inflates into a chair through pumps in the shoes. The brainchild of artist and interactive designer, JooYoun Paek, the provocative art piece will “transform the monotonous experiences produced by routine walking commutes into an entertaining interactive performance.”
