Ion-based Acer Hornet nettop features Wii-like gaming

The little Acer Hornet nettop is hot and now there's some more information available on it. Firstly, let's talk about its most appealing feature that is the "Media Center" version which comes packaged with a Wii-like remote that can be used for gaming as well as media control and it supports 1080p video playback over HDMI. The specs are quite good, the basic model comes with an Atom N230 with 1GB of RAM and an 80GB drive preloaded with Vista Home Basic. If you'd like to step up to the higher end models, they will feature 2GB of RAM, a 160GB drive, and a "Boxshell" quickboot OS in addition to Vista Home Premium. Add a diamond-shaped chassis and an ultra quiet sub-26dB operation to all the features, and you have a killer little device. The price will be somewhere between $149-$299.
The Queen of England receives an iPod from President Obama

President Obama is notorious for giving strange gifts to important personalities. You might remember him presenting Prime Minister Gordon Brown with a set of DVD's featuring classic American films. Unfortunately, this set was rendered useless due to incorrect region encoding. This time around, Obama paid a visit to the Queen at Buckingham palace armed with a rather unusual gift. He gave Elizabeth II an iPod with a video from her 2007 visit to the States. Thoughtful or goofy? In return, the Queen presented Obama with a silver-framed photo of the Queen and her husband which is the norm. I think I like Obama's gift better by a mile. The Queen seems to have liked the iPod quite a bit too or she was just being polite. I really cannot imagine her sporting the trademark iPod headphones and grooving to the tunes. I can't wait to see what Obama will present to the next important person he meets. I'm sure that will make headlines too.
Fitting Rooms might be replaced with the Virtual Wardrobe

Buying clothes is great and half of the fun lies in trying on your trendy fashionable prospects. But the Virtual wardrobe online application is all set to take away the fun from shopping. What you need to do here is upload a photo of your face and the application will then match you up with different types of suits and dresses, different hair colors and weirdly-shaped hats. I don't think a software can help you out with this one. You just have to go out to the store in person and see what suits you best. It's that or nothing for me. Your face can't quite tell what will suit your body the best. However, I suppose if you are bored and have nothing better to do, you can give this a go and then go check out the styles offered to you in person.
The Big Gun Brush cleans your keyboard with a bang
Keyboards can get really dirty, we know that. To make it worse, laptop keyboards are so hard to clean. But fear not as there are many keyboard cleaning devices in the market. Most of them are boring and run-of-the-mill, but here's something that's distinctly different. It's the Big Gun Brush that comes from Japan. It's quirky and fun and if that's not enough, it'll also keep your keyboard spic and span. So shoot away all the dust with this gun cleaner. You can buy it for $19 from Rinkya.
Ergonomic keyboards have still not gained enough popularity

Let's chat about keyboards for a bit. Over the years, we've seen a variety of keyboards. Some are super awesome, some couldn't be more convenient. However, recently with the advent of netbooks, keyboards have become something of a nightmare. These netbooks have keyboards that are really uncomfortable to type up as they are too small and crammed up. If you check out the natural keyboard line from Microsoft, it seems quite impressive at first glance. They make access to all the parts of the keyboard easy and the keys are nicely separated. This is in theory though, however when you try out the keyboard in actuality, it's a whole different story. The way the keyboard is separated is really inconvenient. So the line hasn't gained in popularity.
Little Star Wars Costumes for little Darth Vader and Princess Leia

If you are a Star Wars fan, I pity your children if you come across these Little Star War Costumes. They are pretty much going to be forced to role play Darth Vader and Princess Leia. I personally think they can look quite cute, but I used to hate it when my parents would dress me up in uncomfortable costumes. The Princess Leia dress is adorable as it is robe style with a Velcro closure in the back and includes its own fleece headpiece, so your little girl need not have long locks. The Darth Vader costume is a romper a romper with underleg snap closure, plus a detachable cape (Velcro) and a helmet headpiece made from fleece. I don't think Darth Vader has ever looked more cute. There are various sizes available. One neat touch is that the details on both are stitched and printed to the body of the costume. You can buy it for $20 here. So get geeky the Star Wars style!
Vage scale helps to stop fretting over pounds gained or lost
I have been one of those people obsessed about weight and the weighing scale. And let me tell, the weighing machine is a very evil device. It's the work of the devil! However, we finally have Vage which is a weighing machine that appreciates human emotions and sensitivity and is against the trend of size zero. The best part about it is that it avoids showing each gram and only displays he vage convergence to the entered ideal weight. All that happens is that the display sways in the red or green area.
Ironing is a piece of cake with the Miele Rotary Iron

I pretty much loathe the entire laundry process, be it washing or ironing. I can never get myself to walk into a laundromat unless its a paid and staffed service. I thank god for dry cleaning stores everyday! But I suppose if I had the luxury of owning a Miele Rotary Iron, I wouldn't complain so much. When you first look at it, you are bound to mistake it for a sewing machine. However, it's actually an iron that's designed to be use while seated and it is operated with a foot pedal.
Bullet bracelet - Strap it on the wrist with a bang

If you are a 'badass' and would like to prove this point, I can't think of a better accessory for you than the bullet bracelet. I'm being unable to get past my displeasure of all the shiny golden that's been used here, but I'll do my best to be unbiased. This is a rather trendy bracelet that's made out of bullet casings, a brass chain and a brass toggle closure. It's available in sizes for both men and women. I wish they had it in silver, but that would mean that people would take it along on their werewolf hunts. Anyway, if you like firearms, this is a good way to showcase your love for them. Strap it on for $116.
Space Invaders Tea Kettle - Tea with aliens?
Tea can be quite a boring ordeal, if you don't have the right company to share a cup with. But you can at least make this yawn inducing affair a little prettier with the Space Invaders Tea Kettle designed by Chicago based Vessel. At first glance, the kettle looks extremely elegant with the lovely blue design on a white background, but when you do a double take, you notice how deliciously geeky the design gets. Who wouldn't want Space Invaders on their kettle? This one has also won the 2009 World Kitchen Tea Off competition. I'm liking this kettle a lot and wouldn't mind a cup of tea right about now.
Pac-Man tries to gobble up pearls

It's time to get geeky with Pac-Man again. If geeky yet fabulous jewelery is your thing, look no further. Check out this necklace / pendant by Rachel Pfeffer that's very unique. I've seen a whole bunch of Pac-Man gear and accessories in my time, but nothing as trendy or innovative. The design features a dangling Pac-Man munching on some hanging pearls. Who would've thought Pac-Man can devour pearls too? This piece of jewelery is very adorable and no Pac-Man fan will want to overlook it. Have Pac-Man munch away on pearls around your

Pink Bunker: Vandalized improvisation

A group of Barcelona based “activists” called ‘Difusor’ are known to undertake guerilla projects in the public space. Their latest project was improving an old decaying bunker from the Spanish Civil War, covering it with pink camouflage. As you can see here, the bunker was already covered with graffiti. Lucky them, who managed to get away without the charges for vandalizing a historic site! Should I say, “Good work! Keep it up”?
Pink iPhne is not the real deal

The ‘i’culture is like a pest that cultivates itself and spreads like a virus. So it’s quite predictable that our iPhone would have its own phony version too. If you still want to know which one, it is the imobile phone V509, AKA the iPhne that looks a lot like the authentic company produce, with the Apple logo at the back and all that jazz. The arrival of the phone seems almost legitimate as Apple hasn’t come out with a Pink iPhone yet.
