Batphones to make you look ridiculous but hear clearer

Batphones.jpg
I thought I had seen it all when it comes to strange and quirky innovations, but this is something else. The Batphones is designed by Matthias Reis and it makes me want to laugh out loud. Its description states, "Batphones are designed to increase the hearing capability in frontal situations such as watching TV or listening to a speech in the back rows. Therefor, the ears are being extended to focus onto the speaker(s) and capture a wider amount of sound waves. Being low-tech, that is consisting of just one piece of injection moulded plastic, Batphones are also low-cost and can be distributed as an advertising gift during a speech or a congress for example. " I don't know if I'd be want to caught dead wearing those. They just look so ridiculous that I don't mind missing out on important speeches or lectures or lose out on a couple of dialogues on TV. Seriously, why would anyone put themselves up for ridicule by wearing these? Maybe, I can find a use for it for a costume party.

Air Protect to save your baby from side collisions

babby-seat.jpg
There's a lot of safety on offer for babies at the moment. The newest addition to this line is Air Protect from Dorel Juvenile Group. The company claims that most of child crash deaths are due to side impact collision. That is why they have come up with this chair that is an airbag or a very cushy pillow that absorbs a large impact and effectively extending the amount of time a child's head has to stop in an impact situation. If you don't believe it, just try hitting this seat and your hand will be unhurt. You can find it later this year in at least one Safety 1st product at Babies R Us later this year. Only time will tell how effective this seat really is.

Steampunk Lightsaber is geeky yet classic

Steampunk_Lightsaber2.jpg
This Graflex 3 Cell Lightsaber might says it is Steampunk, but just brass and wood does not a steampunk make. It's apparently made out of copper and leather, we have to hand it that. The best part about this design is that it has no random clockwork. I think any Star Wars fan will want to own this lightsaber even if it's not the most authentic. Still, props for making Star Wars look vintage. I'm digging this steampunk lightsaber that's available on eBay for $125.

Connect the dots dinnerware by Edith Levin: For the child in you

dots_dinnerware.jpg
I can’t tell you how I much loved creating pictures by connecting dots as a child. The whole idea of a picture getting formed by just joining dots never ceased to fascinate me. And my love for this unique kiddy art form has made me fall in love with the beautiful dinnerware collection by Edith Levin. The New York based designer has created an exceptional collection that promises to take everyone back to their childhood as each piece features a cute ‘connect the dots’ motif. Every piece in this collection features unique connect the dots puzzles in the shapes of common food items such as corn, carrots or asparagus. The cup and standard dinner plates boast of a puzzle of themselves created as an outline of the dish.

The Floating Planet: For an out of this world experience

Floating_Planet.jpg
If you have a large family then buying individual floats for every member is just senseless. You would just end up crowding the pool and having no fun at all. For large families with lots of children the perfect float would be this amazing float that goes by the name – The Floating Planet. This huge planet shaped float is built from highly durable 30-gauge PVC covered with a protective nylon screen with resilient stitched seams and is strong enough to withstand buffeting, jumping, twisting, and rocking. The fun planet even spins horizontally and can be tipped out of the water up to 30° to dislodge other players as they grab the built-in nylon handholds. The nylon screen attaching the outer ring to the planet functions as a foothold for players. Just imagine how many games you can play on this amazing floating planet.

Word Clock will spell out the time

Word_clock.jpg
There are timepieces which talk and there are some which make you wish you had paid more attention in math’s class. But here is one that just requires you to know English, that’s it. Known as the Word Clock, it displays the time in words instead of numerical i.e. one instead of I. The unique clock consists of two adjacent rolls, one with five minute time increments written out and the other with the words one to twelve, that turn against each other within an acrylic tube to produce whole sentences like “a quarter to six”. This beautiful clock was originally designed by Hans Muller and Hans van Dongen in 1982. The slim and slender design along with the unique display makes this watch a must have for all. The Word Clock measures 24” by 4” in size and is priced at $230.

This Cowhide Computer Case will certainly make your computer moo. I'm not sure I'd want want, but hey you can gift it to one of your friends who is ultra stupid or loves milk. It's custom painted and brought to you by a disabled Vietnam veteran. The paint-job is done in black and white. It's possible to get other cowhide skin colors on request. Pultius Tv remote control half a meter long

Pultius_Tv_remote.jpg
All the remote controls I've ever come across are fairly standard with nothing to write home about. That was until I stumbled onto the Pultius remote. It is half a meter, that is, 20 inches long. It looks more like a self defense device to me. I might have some Jedi Wars if I bought myself this remote. The buttons look pretty as they come in almost all colors that you will see on a spectrum. It requires two AAA batteries. Certainly a very unique design. It controls 399 channels with three range selection buttons.

Kim White designs hot handbags from vintage automotive fabrics

kim-white-handbags.jpg
Do you remember messing about the colorful and durable back seats of rolling Americana? Kim White certainly does and seems to have paid a tribute to them by making handbags sewn from the same vintage automotive fabrics. The assortment of handbags are nothing short of amazing and you have to check out the Camaro Special Edition ($225). It looks positively hot in red and is sure to impress the guys as well. White came across an entire warehouse of automotive fabric, which may be the last existing stock anywhere in the US, and she is the sole owner of these amazing textiles. It's dead stock that's never been used before. The collection certainly is chic with nostalgic touches.
