Royal Ascot’s Chocolate hat marks Ladies’ Day and a new style statement too

On the occasion of Ladies’ Day yesterday, Royal Ascot racegoers were tempted to their legitimate chocolate cravings with the Cadbury Flake 99 hat, which is nothing like what we’ve seen before. Created by Milliner Judy Bentinck, the impressive 4ft long creation took six painstaking weeks and also an assortment of materials to fabricate. The cone was created by a process that involved intricate layering of colored mesh and the ice-cream was created with the aid of ‘creamy’ satin. A material which formed a part of Late Queen’s Mother’s hats was used for creating the chocolate curls.

During the event, chocolate lovers were also invited to sample the hat as the satin pockets of the creation were embedded with real chocolate pieces. The head piece was commissioned by Fredericks Ice Cream-The Company who reinvented the legendary Flake 99 brand. Model Freya Berry surprisingly doesn’t look goofy in the ‘edible’ hat, or probably her good looks accorded to that.
