Topless Panama hat

This is the only type of hat I have spotted, which doesn’t serve the purpose for which it is made! The crownless Panama Hat made using traditional Ecuadorian construction methods, does not protect your head, but instead it’s wide brim provides 360º of sun protection for your face and neck with a UPF rating of 50+. It is hand-woven in Ecuador from bleached leaves of Carludovica Palmata or Toquilla Palm, the traditional plant fiber used to make Panama hats since they were first discovered by North Americans in the early 1900’s during construction of the Panama canal.
The easy-to-pick visor weighs only two ounces and long hair fits through the hand-sewn cotton/Lycra band to keep the neck cool. Sounds fancy enough, but this $50 Topless Panama hat still fails to protect my exposed head under the sun.
