Giant Knitted Carpet serves the overly imaginative
|

German designer Sebastian Sconheit seems to have a huge fixation of knitting work, to have created the 300 Knit Carpet project. I always believed that knitting was a task associated with women, but our designer friend here proved us thoroughly wrong. Coming back to his creation, he describes it as, “ An oversized Knit work, which appears as if it originated in a different world. The hand-knit carpet not only represents the result, but the process of work as well, binding in the performing act with the intention to create a product identity, creating a reference to material and handicraft tradition too.”
While that may provide us with the logic behind the construction of this artwork, not much is known about its purpose and functionality. Figuring it out can be counted as a part of our homework.
