LiNK door lock system by Schlage lets you unlock your doors with your cell phone
|

Do you always end up locking yourselves outside your home with the keys inside? Here is the perfect solution to help you deal with such situations. Known as the LiNK door lock system by Schlage, it is a unique technology that lets you unlock your door via your cell phone, Internet, PIN pad or standard key. Using the wireless Z-Wave standard, Schlage built their system to be the core of a complete home remote control. The system works by using the kit's wireless bridge to interpret encrypted commands from the Internet, then transmitting those commands wirelessly to modules throughout the home. Everything including the lighting and climate control can be controlled via smart phone or standard web browser.
The starter kit costs $300 and it includes the wireless bridge, one door lock, and a lamp module. There is also an additional $13 a month subscription fee for their LiNK web service to control it all. A great technology, but a tad too expensive!
