Mrs. Dalloway by Nika Zupanc: A stylish kitchen appliance with a rebellious message

Who said fashion and cooking doesn’t go hand in hand had better think again. Nika Zupanc has come up with a line of the most rebellious and stylish kitchen appliance. Zupanc designed the hot plate exclusively for Gorenje and has named it as Mrs. Dalloway. The stylish hot plate is an attempt to rebel against the myth that household appliances are only made for kitchens and housewives. Known for tackling daily themes which symbolize mediocrity, dullness, boredom, and temporal restraints, she attempts to rebel against these myths with her unique designs. Mrs. Dalloway being a single plate, it has a seemingly simple genetic structure. Nika Zupanc defines her latest design as an ode to the invisible pathologies of our everyday lives.

Never had I thought that a kitchen appliance could look so stylish and at the same time give a message so strong. So from women everywhere, here’s hoping that Nika Zupanc and her attempts to deconstruct old feminist norms find success.
