Jitterbug for those jittery around a cellphone

With the progress in technology smaller and swifter gadgets have come into the market. These lightening-speed gizmos often leave the older generation intimidated by its features and facets. With most of the mobile phone companies targeting the youth of today, very few have spent a moment to develop phones that wouldn’t scare the pants off the old maid! Enter Jitterbug, a company that designs mobile phones (manufactured by Samsung) that have a specific niche target. Easy-to-use, these mobile phones feature designs reminiscent of the era gone by. Large touchstone dialing with readable numbers and even the good old dial tone is integrated into the system. "If there's no dial tone, you can't make a call," says Arlene Harris, the brain behind Jitterbug. To reach a Jitterbug operator, who can place calls or answer questions for you, dial 0.

The precision design ensures that earpiece covers your ear and a microphone is next to your mouth; quite like the retro phones. Simple YES and NO buttons replace confusing icons. Jitterbug offers two models; the first one features a classic telephone keypad with larger, brighter buttons and the second one with no keypad at all. The Jitterbug OneTouch has just three buttons: one to dial 911, one to reach a Jitterbug operator, and one that can be programmed with a number chosen by the user. Jitterbug sounds quite Utopian; but its success depends upon the support-service that they provide.
