Research shows that teens prefer a new smartphone over a car

The changing technology has made the ‘teen technology desire’ paradigm shift from owning a smartphone to owning a car. A research conducted by Ford Motor Company and Gartner has revealed that the car that used to be the ‘signal of adulthood’ has been replaced by owning a smartphone as a preferable option in the life of today’s teens. This, in a way is probable as the global interconnectedness and social networking that a smartphone offers is much more attractive to youngsters than driving a car. Statistics that are going to be published later this year found that 46% of the people aged 18-24 favor internet access over vehicular privileges. In the wake of this new found information, car manufacturers condescended that the image of the car has to be pegged from a regular drive-around vehicle to something more interactive.

While many car manufacturers have reflected on that thought before and have designed cars embedded with high tech features like iPod docks, Bluetooth, built-in GPS devices and other gadgets into their automobiles, it could still fall short of the functionality offered by smartphones.
