W580 Walkman phone with a pedometer by Sony Ericsson
|

It’s commonsensical that a pedometer is not very useful for geeky lasses. But Sony is hell bent on getting them out of their geeky world and burn some calories by incorporating a pedometer in its latest cell phone – W580. At least the nerdies will move their butt to in order to put this latest feature to test. Specifically built for US networks, this slim slider phone that plays back music too is being launched first in the US market. (I think SE must have realized that obesity is on a rise amongst American gals!) As we all know that a pedometer is like your personal workout assistant…..it keeps track of the number of steps you have taken, the number of calories burnt or the speed and distance of a run or walk.

Additionally the W580 will ship with a 512MB Memory Stick Micro (enough for 470 songs) and Disc2Phone software, which can rip CDs and transfer the files to the phone. At just 14mm thin, the W580 is offered in two colors - Style White or Urban Grey with hot orange accents. Stunning light effects along the side change as you navigate this Walkman music player. Featuring a 2.0 megapixel camera and a 2 inch color screen, this communication device along with gaming, imaging and fitness applications will be available in the third quarter of this year in US. No details on pricing yet.
