91 year old Chinese tailor is still going strong
|

We have heard about determination and dedication to one’s work in stories and inspirational speech’s. But 91 year old Ran from China’s southwestern city - Chengdu, is actually a living example of this. At this ripe old age, the Chinese man is still continuing with his profession as a tailor and making customized bras for his clients. If this does not spell determination I don’t know what does. Even though his children have asked him to discontinue his profession, the old man say’s his customer’s would have no place to buy bra’s from as they wouldn’t opt for the stores that sell bra’s. Ran got into this profession at young age of 15 by working as an apprentice and over the year’s became the owner of his very own shop along with his wife. He mastered the skill of specializing in stitching bra’s for women when he worked in a department store. Now however, all that remains of his business is a small balcony outside his apartment.
Despite new technology, Ran still makes bra’s using traditional technique of sewing and seaming different pieces of cotton cloth made to fit the customer's measurements. With his daughter-in-law Zhou working as his apprentice, the old man has no hopes of retiring anytime soon.
