Aqua Tower in Chicago is the tallest building to be designed by a female owned firm

Every once in a while, we get buildings and structures that are of iconic stature. The 82-story Aqua tower that has risen in Chicago is a great example. This mammoth and magnificent construction has been completed by Studio Gang Architects. A great feat achieved here is that it is the tallest building designed by a female-owned firm. It has been specifically designed for a hotel space (for now, without an occupant) on floors 4 through 18, apartments on floors 19 through 52 and condominiums from floors 53 to 81. There are also shops, parking and townhouses. It's more a residential zone than a business one. The tower's signature feature are the undulating balconies, which because of their curving, bulging shapes, cantilever anywhere from 2 to 12 feet outwards, thus affording city views that would otherwise have been impossible to appreciate. Everybody loves a good view from their living spaces. If I could, I'd buy a condo here in a heartbeat! Hopefully some dreams do come true. They cost a scant 1.5% of the building's $325 million construction cost.
