He is the new man on demand to make women drivers feel safer on the road. He puffs out at the flick of a switch. And if your real-life beau decides to come driving with you, simply pull the plug and pop him back in your glove box. Sheilas’ Wheels, the female-friendly car insurance brand has created the ‘Buddy on Demand’, a blow up man that inflates at the flick of a switch. This inflated buddy can reduce the fear associated with driving alone. It is an ingenious idea and hopefully will go some way to make women feel safer behind the wheel. It is designed to help women deter road-rage attacks, car jacking and intimidating behavior by other motorists especially at night by giving the appearance of two silhouettes in the front of the car, instead of a single, female figure behind the wheel.
According to research, 82 percent of women feel safer with someone sitting in the car beside them and nearly a half don't like driving alone in the dark. Although an inflatable man is not the only answer but it will positively give women extra confidence and make journeys in the dark less fearful.
