Footloose – Heeled Shoes that go up and down for your comfort

Wearing high heels is just one of the sacrifices we make for fashion. High heels do much more than merely add inches to your height. They make your legs looks longer and slimmer, they give you an air of grace and sensuality… and they make your feet hurt terribly at the end of a long day or party. The drawbacks of high heels are well known, but we can’t help but hanker after the elegant look they bring. But why suffer so much when there is an alternative? Ever wished for a shoe that can magically make you tall and put you back on the floor with ease? Footloose is smart footwear that goes up and down in inches with a simple twist. Just wear flats most of the time, until you really need to strut around in heels. A design project by Marte de Hollander, it offers the best of both worlds by merely twisting the heel around. No more extra pairs of shoes in your bag, no more trouble driving a car or walking stairs, no more painful feet, no more knee and ankle damage. You just have to pull the heel downwards to release it, after which it can be folded in or out as preferred.

The adjustment of the heel position automatically changes the curvature of the sole to fit the altered shape of the foot. Still a concept, its gonna be sometime till we see these adjustable high heels hit the production stage.
