Hello Kitty has made such a mark on the world, that if you’ re in the Asakusa shopping and tourist part of Tokyo you can use real Hello Kitty Money at 500 participating shops. That’s the kind of influence this pretty lady has. She’s up there with the Lincolns and Washingtons to have her face plastered on money. Of course, don’t mistake this for replacing local currency, it’s simple a marketing gimmick and a good one at that. Maybe, soon I can use my monopoly money in shopping malls? Only 30,000 1,000 Yen notes and 30,000 500 Yen coins will be issued, so you might have to hurry. Also, you can only use this money between an 23 2010 and March 14 2010. I want to collect some of these coins.
