No Smoking Room Website encourages girls to say "no" to smoking
|

Despite being repeatedly warned about the ill effects of smoking, young girls are exposed to intense social and media pressures to smoke. To stay away from smoking, a new Web site has been launched through Children's Hospital at Dartmouth (CHaD) and Dartmouth Medical School (DMS). This website targets young girls, aged 8-11 years old, Since kids these days turn to net for every problem, this seems to be the best bet for curbing smoking for the net savvy generation. The safe, online patient education site is the brainchild of Dartmouth pediatrician Henry Bernstein. No Smoking Room.Org is designed to empower young girls to say "no" to smoking and to encourage those who are smoking to quit.
No Smoking Room.Org was designed by Mind Your Mind, a Canadian-based private social service non-profit organization, and also involves the Girl's Advisory Group, comprised of 10 girls who helped shape the girl-centered vision for the site.
