Sleep microphone lets the pillow play an Agony Aunt

This is the first time I’m hearing of a pillow playing an Agony Aunt. It’s a rather unique pillow that has been invented by a student from Endinburgh and it uses speech recognition software to record people’s worries when they cannot get to sleep. Nekani Guezala, 23 of Edinburgh Napier invented this sleep microphone and it is on display at Creative Showcase, a special exhibition. It is believed that people speak out their worries when they cannot sleep and you can get a report of these worries the next morning through this invention. Psychologists recommend writing down problems, but people rarely ever do that. This pillow will nevertheless help in recording the worries and stress and help in finding a solution.
Ms Guezala, who is from Bilbao in Spain, said she was excited about her design master’s project. She was also quoted saying, “One night I was lying awake worrying about what I was going to do with my life and I came up with the idea because people are better in the morning and so if they were reminded about all the things they were thinking about the night before they could work through it better in the morning.I did a questionnaire and found on average that people spent 40 minutes worrying at night before they fell asleep.”
Alex Gilkison, head of school of arts and creative industries at Edinburgh Napier University said he is proud of this invention and that it is great for the reputation of their school.
