Spin on the Waltz outfits bring innovative melody making to ballroom dancing
|

NYC based Ambreen Hussain a Masters graduate in Fine Arts at Parsons, The New School for Design has created a Viennese inspired wearable electronic project. It is named the 'Spin on the Waltz‘ or ‘Spin‘ and what it does is make a new and clever sound environment for Viennese waltz dancers. This is done through two wearable garments with embedded technologies that start up an electronically generated melody. The outfits are made for professional male and female dancers that make it possible for the dance and the two bodies to control music in an interactive manner. It gives them a freedom of movement as they are creating their own melodies.
Three sensors are placed on both the male and the female garment that trigger a sensor that controls the output of a synthesized melody. So overall, it gives dance and music a new frontier.
