If you're a lady over 30, then chances are that you do a self-breast exam every month. At the very least, you know that you should be doing one. But did you know though, that your pet can also be prone to breast cancer? Should you be checking your dog or cat for lumps in the breast? The answer is YES!!! Like us, dogs and cats can also fall prey to life-threatening breast cancer. The cancer can spread (metastasize), and your sweetheart can die too. However to reduce the risk of cancer, there are steps that can be followed.

Like in people, a healthy lifestyle is helpful in a pet's prevention of cancer. A healthy diet and adequate exercise are essential to the health of humans and animals alike. Careful monitoring and observation of your pet is the key to early detection. If detected on time, mastectomy, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and / or an anti-hormone therapy may also be used for cancer treatment. Let's stand up for pets and wear a pink ribbon for our dog or cat too!
