“Our Daily Bread”: A fun and nutritional project

Our-Daily-Bread-1.jpg
London Designers at the Hector Serrano Studio had recently organized a workshop, which they directed for industrial design graduates at the university Cardenal Herrara in Valencia, Spain. The workshop assumed more of a practical venture than a theoretic one as it aimed to generate designs based on social observations. The first image is that of the perfect bread loaf that should accompany a boiled egg. The second is a baguette baked with some extra portion for the hungry kids on empty stomach, who go out and buy bread as instructed by their moms. The third is bread shaped like a teething ring set which also doubles as a baby’s dummy. The fourth image is that of a bread hook, which supposedly could be hung under the arm; it isn’t so appetizing but the least we could do is appreciate the interesting idea.

Portable toilet that fits in a handbag helps women relieve themselves during emergency

portable_toilet.jpg One of the long debated, unabated topics of men/women lets men take the trophy because of the fact that men can relieve themselves anywhere and women can’t do the same. Here is a German company that seeks to end the squabble by inventing the world’s first pocket toilet for women in the form of a plastic bag. The disposable portable lavatory consists of a plastic bag fitted with absorbent polymers that turns the urine into gel. The “Ladybag”, in the size of a chocolate bar absorbs one pint of urine, but in an emergency the bag has capacity of 2.2 pints. The bag is so handy that it can be used in cars, or to avoid dirty toilets or at open-air festivals when you don’t want to stand in a queue.

Flip-n-Drip Camping Coffee maker provides you smokin’ hot Coffee on the go

Camping_Coffee_Maker.jpg
Coffee is the most sumptuous beverage you can start your day with and its scrumptiousness sees no bounds when you start your day with a strong, aromatic coffee at the camping site. All this sounds so exciting, but brewing in itself is bit of a snag if you don’t happen to have the right brewing utensils. Brunton’s Flip-n-Drip takes care of all those crude, incomplete apparatus and brewing woes, so you can enjoy your good kick of caffeine whenever and wherever you feel like. It’s a three-part coffee maker that boils water in the base, after which you can attach the “brew-chamber”, a section that holds the grounds. After the water percolates through the grounds, it emanates aromatic oil and flavor and the coffee ends up in an integrated cup.

The UFO lamp is not so alien when it perches by your bedside

ufo-lamp.jpg
The Star Wars and ET have managed to stir up our fad for UFO’s and space ships. Of course, these aren’t so much necessary when the fake newspaper reports could do the trick for many of us. It still remains a ‘flight of the imagination’ which you could have in the comfort of your home. Here’s a bedside lamp for $24, shaped like an Unidentified Flying Object, which could lull you off to sleep each night. If you find all UFO-like stuff cool, you might take a fancy for the UFO webcam or the UFO juicer as well.

Shoe cell phone holder is hideous and unnecessary

shoe_phone_holder.jpg
If you were given a choice to place your cell phone on a decent cell phone stand or a shoe, what would you choose? I reckon, it would be the former for most sane headed people. But there is a company called “Perfect Solutions” that has come up with a Shoe Cell Phone stand, not to mention an absolutely gruesome one, which I have seen on the feet of ‘morally disoriented’ women at the sidewalk. It comes with built-in channel for recharging, is that much of a selling point? Shoe cell phone holder is avilable For $19 at Amazon.

Barbie Caf on Huaihai Road M. screams pink and delectable

barbie_coffee.jpg
After having created the Barbie suite in Palms resort, Las Vegas, the next Big Barbie dope they could think of is the opulent Barbie Caf in Huaihai Road M in China. The café rolls out everything right from pink cocktails to delicious Blondie brownies and pink mayo-frosted burgers. I always thought Barbie was candy-cute and ‘eatable’, so if you happen to share the same wicked fantasy as me, then you would definitely take a fancy for the pink Barbie Tini, Fashionista Salad and Shanghai Lynn Taro Gelato. The theme was conceived and designed by Mattel Barbie and David Laris of Laris of fame and the cafe is decked up with black, white and pink tiled zebra-like stripes. Apparently, the designers mimicked the herringbone swimsuit worn by Barbie on her grand debut in 1959.
