Smart Fortwo all set to whiz in US by early 2008
|

I have written about this dinky car earlier….but this time I have more precise detailing. For a start let me tell you that Smart was designed by Mercedes-Benz and the Swiss watch manufacturer, Swatch with a vision to create a small, funky city car for the 21st century. But the relationship broke down and the project was left incomplete. However it managed to cruise the European roads from1998 onwards and now this upgraded Fortwo is believed to hit the lanes of US in early 2008. Especially designed for the US market, this new Fortwo has standard safety features like four airbags, ABS and stability control. It will have increased cabin and trunk space and a new 1.0-liter 3-cylinder engine making 84 bhp. Company executives claim the car will get about 40 mpg. Would you like to reserve your very own new Smart Fortwo?

Roger Penske's UnitedAuto Group has bagged the exclusive distributorship for this Smart in the U.S. and will be taking orders in about two months on their Web site, www.smartusa.com. You can select from three models - The Pure with optional air conditioning starts at $11,000; the better-equipped Passion will cost $13,000 and the Convertible will be $15,000. A Brabus version with more power will be presented at the Geneva show in March. Designed with you in mind it has ample cargo space for a gym bag and groceries, comfortable seats, and an easy-to-read instrument cluster giving you the information you need for a safe journey. If you are asking for more than you are behaving gluttonous!
